The City Council identified Turner Street as a top priority for resurfacing in March of this year. Since that time plans and specifications have been completed and sent out to contractors. Bids were received in June and the City Council is scheduled to award the bid on July 10. The project includes a complete overlay from Main Street to Corker Street, and also includes the section of lower Main Street from Spring Street to Canal Street. This will be a much needed improvement for the city, and we look forward to its completion scheduled for early August. City crews were recently out clearing the roadside ditches to help the bidders fully assess the scope of work. Watch for traffic control and temporary lane closures in late July-early August. Residents and businesses adjacent to the work will be notified in advance of construction activities. For questions please contact Nate Stong, city engineer.
