Retired teachers thankful

By From page A5 | December 05, 2012

EDITOR:

We would like to thank the retired teachers who attended the October meeting of the CalRTA and contributed snacks, candies, foot powder, Christmas cards, etc. for troops in Afghanistan. This program was initiated from an article run in the Mountain Democrat on July 4, 2012 and asked for contributions of “junk food” and funds for mailing boxes. As a result of this article, the retired teachers collected enough items to fill 13 boxes and donations to make it possible to send them to the young man featured in the article. He, in turn, shares the boxes with all the troops in his unit. We would also like to thank the manager of our local Raley’s who donated three cases of caramels to put in the boxes. Thanks, everyone.
