Robbers

EDITOR:

Our home in Gold Hill was robbed on Monday, in broad daylight, by someone who crowbarred open a metal-framed door. The villains seem to have left in a hurry, taking all of our friends’ jewelry and perhaps evaluating the home for later theft. Ours was just one of four homes in the area to be robbed recently.

I’m pretty sure the robbers were repeat offenders, accustomed to their work, but disappointed by their take. They probably don’t know that the jewelry they grabbed was left to a young couple by each of their deceased mothers. The young woman, a local school teacher, lost all the sentimental items from her mom, who passed away when she was 11; the young man lost multi-generational family treasures passed on by his mom, who died last year. Money can’t replace these things.

So robbers: Please man-up and mail the jewelry to the police station, or to the vineyard home you robbed. This stuff has no value for you at pawn or metal traders, but deep value to its owners.

And readers, if you have a lead, please call Deputy Ventura at 530-621-6600.

I wish my Uncle Smith or Uncle Wesson had been there, these two never did care for thieves. I hope something is recovered somewhere. I hear this stuff all the time all over about the amount of thieves out trying the Bummer's advise about redistributing others property and his understudy's new work program, the early out of prison "Moonbeam busy-felon plan." This is going to get worse before it gets better.

Yeah, if Uncle Smith or Uncle Wesson were there, the thieves would have them as well. Doesn't sound like the started with a gun, but if your Uncles were there, they would have them when they leave...

I suspect this had a lot more to do with Uncle MethHead, who is nonpartisan. I originally titled the letter "Bad Samaritans, Come Clean," because somebody always knows the vandal but won't tell. Somebody knows the dirtbags with the dark green SUV with black rims that was going house to house. But burglaries are everywhere. When I told this story to a friend, he said he'd gone out the front door one morning to find the entire front end of his F250 stolen!
