Ryan/Romney?

EDITOR:

Our ambassador, a foreign service officer, and two Marines have been killed in Libya.

Rule No. 1 is that all Americans stand together when America is attacked. A rule that Mitt Romney immediately broke when he rushed to hold a political press conference attacking President Obama over this tragedy. A photograph of Mitt leaving the press conference shows him smiling. Is he smiling content that he could use these deaths in a political attack?

Paul Ryan, on the other hand, also commented and had the good judgment to lament our loss without reference to President Obama.

Is it too late for the RNC to change the ticket to Ryan/Romney?

You're right Mr. Longhofer. Let's all follow Rule No. 1.

I wonder with all the lives and treasure this country has lost to try to convince a region to like us, if this region of the world is only deemed vital because we say so. The Muslim faith is roughly 500 years younger than Christianity. 500 years ago Christianity was roughly in the same shape as Muslim faith is today. I'm for giving these people a time out for a few centuries until they show some maturity. It might be time to redefine what a vital interest is to our society. I'm for making the Canadians and the Mexicans as well as the Alaskans, Californians and Texans a lot richer. But not the North Dakotans! I have a weird feeling about that group.

OK, gave Ryan too much credit, as he has now come out blaming President Obama for the "devastating" defense cuts as a cause of these foreign attacks. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the upcoming defense cuts a result of the Congressional deal that Ryan voted for? Ryan screwed up, if he had continued to be rational obeying Rule #1, the RNC might have put him on the top of the ticket.

The real problem is that it has been revealed Obama has attended only 38% of the daily Intelligence briefings from the day he took office. Ironically, he missed all of them in the three days BEFORE the attack that killed the Ambassador. That time frame is significant because it is exactly how many days Libya warned us in advance that an attack was coming.

Mr. Martin, surely you know that the President is provided a daily intelligence briefing by the CIA every morning, at home or when on trips. Ergo, the 38% is meaningless (attending a formal meeting), as his morning briefing negates it. But, good try Fox News.

Meaningless is right James E.. It's obvious that President Barry, I mean Barrack was more interested on his campaign trip to Las Vegas than to have to deal with a crisis and as you say...the CIA had informed him of. They killed our Ambassador, sodimized him and other Americans lost their lives and your little twisted letter is all you have to say? You are an embarrasment to the community.

Col James: Although we did not know him well, our Ambassador to Lybia was a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco at the time we also served there. In a way, his death is almost personal. I agree with you on Romney's timing but dissent is a virtue, however misplaced and self-serving it may be. Romney and Ryan are desperate: throwing Hail Mary's, hoping to score something--anything. The Republicans, of course, are clueless. They think the messenger is the problem when the real problem is the message: the economic determinism of Ayn Rand is a loser. Actually what I find most troubling about Romney is his kowtowing to Netanyahu. He basically advocates turning our Middle East policy over to Israel--as if their interests never diverged from ours. Scary stuff.

Reading Jack Martin: The canard about Obama attending only 30% of his intelligence briefings was started by Cheney on a FOX interview. Cheney never divulged the source of his information; he obviously just made it up but it's the kind of propaganda FOX watchers thrive on. As Col. James states, the President, any President, gets a 6 a.m. intelligence briefing from a CIA officer--every day of the year. It's truly amazing how the clueless just enjoy remaining clueless. Unfortunately, they vote.

Mr. John! We all know Obama should should be credited with the word KOWTOWING and there is a big difference between BRIEFING vs. MEETING and what you do with the information.

DB Smith, he was carried to a hospital where he died of smoke inhalation. Your reference cite for sodomy? I could be wrong, but that sounds so Fox News or Rush.

Mr. Smith, I see it was reported in the friendly right wing Washington Times -- it does put some right wing spice into the story so as to better criticize the President. However, Washington Times got it from AFP News which states it was falsely quoted and no truth whatsoever to it.

James E.. If that's all that bothered you in my comment then you are worse off than I thought. An American Ambassador and Marines were killed after Obama was CIA briefed and he still thought it wise to go campaigning. What an absolute idiot and a failure to our American military and American people. We were all waiting anxiously to hear from our great leader but nothing was said. I commend Romney for commenting on the situation.

Mr. Longhofer- You remind me of a Die hard baseball fan that would get upset when the umpire called the opposing team safe when the replay showed your first baseman had his foot 18 inches off the bag. Translation- try being a little more objective when casting your stones because there is plenty of blame to go around. But according to you, if your name has the intials DEM dehind it, your in the clear.
