A couple weeks ago, the Bee ran a story about the feds pitching in to revamp the depot. The Department of Transportation has agreed to award Sacramento $15 million to transform the historical building. This money comes only in matching funds if the state spends $15 million on it, also. When it’s government money, it originates from taxpayers.
With as many financial problems encumbering both the state and the federal governments, how can our government representatives even think about spending $30 million now, especially on an already serviceable facility? If Doris Matsui is thrilled, and thinks the federal money is a freebee, where does she think it comes from? Just like the state’s $15 million comes from the taxpayers, so does the federal $15 million also come from the taxpayers. I am continually outraged about our government’s continually spending more money than they have incoming revenue.

Mr. Brown, your proven lack of credibility on a number of issues including veterans in our community, makes me question the motivation behind anything you may write..

Thank you Mr. Brown for pointing out the obvious to people like Veteran who is too blind to see. It's people like him that keep me awake at night wondering who's actually defending our freedoms. God save America!
