EDITOR: Mr. Longhofer in his fool me twice letter is trying to fool you a lot more than that. He states that the Repblicans ran in 2010 on a platform of jobs and failed to deliver. He, of course, calls the Republicans the party of no
Well, let’s take a look at that. The no’s he talks about weren’t coming from the GOP-controlled House, they were coming from the Democrat-controlled Senate that wouldn’t even hear jobs programs from the House much less vote on them.
He says, Where are the GOP plans for jobs?. Plans? Plans? Where were the Democrats’ plans for the two years that they had unchecked veto proof majorities in both houses and the presidency? You want to talk about a lack of plans. The only one they had was the so-called stimulus that we had to enact right away before we could even think about it to save the economy and keep unemployment below 8 percent. Well, unemployment totally ignored this gargantuan waste of money as it blew past 8 preent like a hot knife through butter. In sports when a coach has an unbroken record of failure like this president has had with the economy he is replaced in an effort to get the team back on a winning path. Well?
GEORGE ALGER
Placerville
Again the Tea/Republican talking point that the Democrats had two years, when in fact they had four months. Stimulus was inadequate with about 1/3 going to tax cuts. House votes for jobs? Cite a few.
Once again Mr. Agler your comments are right out of the right wing blog, “Arm Yourself with the Responses you will Need to Defeat the lies of the Left.”
Where’s the Democrat Plan? Just go on Senate.gov and click on “Votes”…. Look at the LONG list of “On Cloture on the Motion to Proceed”….. AND in the next column it says “REJECTED”….. That’s a FILIBUSTER…. Something FOX Cable NEWS “Never” talks about…. The Democrats have a plan….it is BLOCKED my Filibuster after Filibuster (376 since Lugren + McConnell decided to Block OBAMA on everything–to hell with the country–Party 1st)… And then FOX says…. Democrats aren’t doing anything…..and then YOU say….”Democrats are doing anything.”…. If you don’t READ & THINK for yourself….you won’t know the truth.
Again, James throws a topic into the mix that is meant only to distract form the core topic. How many months, weeks, days or hours the Senate had a filibuster proof majority is irrelevant. The Dems (PRez, House and Senate) never used ONE MINUTE of that majority on rebuilding the economy. As for the party of No, I have explained this before, but James doesn’t want to hear it. The people did specifically send the Republicans back to power in the House specifically to say No. That’s what the candidates pledged to do while running for office and it’s what their constituents elected them to do. To say No. No to more spending, no to ever-increasing deficits and debt. No to Obama/Reid/Pelosi and their agenda that is bankrupting the country. We’re gonna say No even louder in November. Maybe you’ll actually hear it this time.
Right on Mr. Martin..(No pun intended)..I say, let the Col’s constant deflection and Dink “CAPS LOCK” Lane’s repeating of the word FILIBUSTER just go unnoticed…Who cares?…..Just imagine the deep do-do our beloved country would be if those we had elected had not filibusted and had not said no all those times…..It’s a matter of record that the democrat controlled senate has blocked every bill the republicans have sent up to help our horrible unemployment situation..(There’s been many, but let the lib’s do their own homework)….It’s Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid that will not let any GOP bills on the floor!! Why?? Because if he did, they might pass, and if they did, they would create jobs, and it would just make King Obama look bad….
I think that we all need to ask our selves if our country as a whole is better off today and if we feel our children will be blessed with as many opportunities in their lives as we had.
When I had a house in Mexico, I was always amazed at the difference between our two countries that was only seperated by the San Isidro boarder crossing. Roughly the same people and cultures. The main difference then was a completely corrupt and dysfunctional government. That was 20 years ago regarding Mexico. Inflation hit Mexico and the peso sky rocketed to 8000 to 1 USD. The US stepped in with the full faith and credit of America and stabilized Mexico’s inflation problem. Who’s going to be able to do that for us? Not one person that posts on this paper from the left addresses the trillion plus dollar annual deficit spending by our federal government. Their only answer is to tax the 250,000 people in the US who earn 1 million dollars a year, even more. This is a country of over 300 million. To tax those people at 100% would only run the government for 12 days. Our state and most cities in California are broke. The only answer I can see is America needs jobs. Canada now has surpassed our average net worth by $40,000.00 for the first time in history. They log, farm, mine and drill. We used to do that. Why is it OK for Canada, Mexico and the Middle East and not us? How are we going to pay our bills? How will our children?
I hate (dislike it very much) when a long reply goes into the Internet fog never to be published.
So, I’ll make this short: Mr. Martin you say two years and when it is revealed it was four months you just call it irrelevant? I think you are irrelevant on your shady grasp of the specifics. Going to say NO louder this November?? The Tea/Republican Party is becoming old news — Independents who will decide this election are aware of your tactics and I wouldn’t count on a victory this November. R.J.,
you said it — why should I have to do your homework? Gives us some specific examples.
J.E….The computer ate your homework again???….As the lib’s constantly yap about things insignificant to America’s problems like “dogs on cars”, more tax records, or “when Romney worked where, remember all the “smoke and mirrors” is simply created to take focus off reality and facts…Here is just a small reminder of recent GOP Jobs bills that have passes the House only to be blocked in the Senate by King Obama and Harry Reid…
H.R. 872, the Reducing Regulatory Burdens Act
H.R. 910, the Energy Tax Prevention Act

H.R. 1938, North American-Made Energy Security Act
Mr E — Independents are also aware of your party’s tactics. All this useless bickering from all the usual suspects only serves to send us elsewhere.
R.J., Jobs acts coming out of the House had little to nothing to do about jobs. Each one has a devious truth hidden within — one as an example: The Jobs and Energy Permitting Act of 2011. Wow, sounds good for jobs, get in line to apply if the Senate agrees and the President signs. Wait, not jobs, instead it loosens regulations on air pollution caused by oil and gas drilling, and eliminates the Environmental Appeals Board. All this one does is allow corporations to save money by polluting our air. I like to breathe, so happy the Senate didn’t get fooled by the word Jobs in the title of the bill. Mr. MacKenzie, so you are going to vote for a no
name or just stay home? I know you a bit from your comments over the past years. You are going to vote for Obama. You are too intelligent to vote for Romney.
Mr E — I’m not voting “for” President Obama. Like 4 years ago, when my vote went to Senator McCain, I will be voting “for” the checks-and-balances of divided government…Republican congress and Democrat president. This nonsense about one brand of politician being better or worse than another is of no interest to Independents like me.
Mr. MacKenzie, so you are looking for checks and balances. A Romney presidency could result in the appointment of perhaps too more Republican Justices — how’s that going to be for checks and balances?
Kirk…I believe voting to create an divided government creates the worse possible scenario….Due to the overwhelming partisanship in both parties it would be virtually impossible for an equally divided government to ever get anything done…Bipartisanship is very rarely seen in Congress so the only thing a divided government would creating is just more of the same old gridlock..Plus, ya just can’t walk on both sides of a barbed-wire fence at the same time without getting cut…
Mr E — ask a question that makes sense.
Mr Carter — quainticism and beliefs aside, gridlock is better than one party controlling everything. Gridlock gave us a balanced budget under Bill & Newt; spending (as a percentage of GDP) has leveled off since Republicans took the house and achieved critical mass in the senate (2010).
Now I’m off to work in the yard. All ya’ll enjoy your moot quibbles.
Given the size of the universe, Mr. MacKenzie is correct — we are all moot.
Very true J.E….Plus, somewhere out in that same vast universe might even exist the word quainticism which Mr. MacKenzie uses so eloquently..LOL
R.J., I think that is a word used by space aliens.
Wonder what Mr. MacKenzie looks like — human form or form from his distant space home/station? Scary that they are among us. Romney? Mr. Martin?
Tom Cruise? Senator Paul (R-KY)?
