Smoke signals

EDITOR:

Did you hear the joke? Caltrans has a new truck. It sleeps six. Well, I think the signal expert that came up to Placerville was asleep at the wheel.

Someone needs to tell them that Apple Hill is not open at 9:30 p.m. When you go to cross Highway 50 at any of the three signals at that time of day, you wait more than three minutes while a handful of cars go by.

I can set my thermostat better than that.

Politics, noun. A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage.

I have absolutely no idea what my generation did to enrich our democracy. We dropped the ball. We entered a period of complacency and closed our eyes to the public corruption of our democracy.

A direct result of public education being abducted by unions working hand in hand with a government which has an ever increasing animus toward individual freedom and liberty. By the millions people have accepted a fairy tale that government has their best interest and will take care of them. They didn't get that notion out of the thin air, it was taught to them.

The source of corruption, alas, is inherent in the democratic system itself, and it can only be controlled, if at all, by finding ways to encourage legislators to subordinate ambition to principle.

The motivation behind LIMITED government. There was a comment in another thread over the weekend that asked what conservatives have contributed, the premise behind the question is that MORE government is BETTER government. We all know why the left believes MORE is BETTER.
