Dear Santa Claus,
I’m writing this letter to tell you how much I have always appreciated you. I grew up in a rough family in which physical violence was an almost daily event. Each December, though, I was taken to a local shopping center to see you and sit on your lap. I knew that since you’re aware of everything you would say something or show me a sign if you thought I could not make it through another year. But you never did, and so I knew I would be able to persevere.
Much time has passed since then, and I am now 66 years old. Whenever I notice you in a shopping area, I get a smile on my face and warmth in my heart. Although I enjoyed the gifts that you used to leave for me under the Christmas tree, I am most grateful for the love and hope that you gave me year after year. It let me know that there is goodness in this world. And nowadays I always look for ways that I can
inspire and uplift other children.
Thank you, Santa. Your gift of giving just keeps on giving. Please don’t ever retire.
