EDITOR:
We say hurrah for Mary Cahill, the manager of CPCSD. Mary hired a deputy to help keep order at our open to the public monthly board meetings.
A group of people, two in particular, started attending these meetings about five years ago. They are loud and disruptive. They fill our meetings with foul language, ugly signs, rudeness and false accusations to our board members and managers. It is very hard to have to sit there and listen to this.
We have been attending these meetings for 14 years and have been volunteering to help our community be a better place to live. We helped in every way we could but have backed off because these people make us feel uncomfortable and afraid of our safety.
My husband was attacked by the main person because this person was rambling on way past his allotted time and my husband pointed to his watch. This person ran over to my husband pushing his body in a threatening way and calling my husband filthy names. That is only one of the many incidents that we have been putting up with for about five years.
The Mountain Democrat has egged them on by printing their names with pictures of them and what they say — giving them their 15 minutes of fame. It’s time we come back to helping our community and get rid of these troublemakers. Thank you, Mary Cahill.
ROSEMARY O’CAMB
Cameron Park
Dear Ms O”Camb you have repeatedly brought up an incident where your husband was confronted at a CSD meeting. As I understand it your husband was acting in a provocative manner, holding his arm in the air and tapping his watch, which instigated the incident in question. You fail to mention this. Please tell me who died and made your husband the official time keeper for Cameron Park CSD meetings? You claim to be intimidated by the one or two people who regularly attend CSD meetings. Yet you were at the September Parks and Recreation meeting. You spoke freely and didn’t seem the least bit worried for your safety. Which is it Ms. O’Cam, are you comfortable enough to attend and speak at meetings or are you to frightened to attend? You can’t have it both ways. Aside from sharing your desire to stifle people’s first amendment rights to freedom of speech the CSD General Manager is an unmitigated disaster. Look at the results of the Summer Spectacular, attendance down and no accounting for the amount of time the CSD staff put in to make the event happen so we have no accurate means to determine if the event was a financial success, and the disaster of Chillin’ and Grillin’. Look at the fact that the CSD General Manager held a bridal fair and didn’t have a booth to promote the very building, our community center, which the event was taking place in. She didn’t even have a show discount so as to encourage the brides to be to use our community center for their receptions. At the September Parks and Recreation meeting everyone was talking about lowering the price of renting the community. The General Manager said she would look in to it. This as I pointed out was a monumental mistake. I pointed out that the General Manager should have been promoting the concept of having Fall weddings at the gazebo at Cameron Park Lake, now that it is closed to swimming, and having the receptions at the community center for the cost of renting the community center alone. Of course this approach to marketing did not and would not ever occur to the General Manager because she is inept, incompetent and out of her depth when it comes to managing a government agency like the Cameron Park CSD. So go ahead and praise the General Manager all you want. Those of us who attend the CSD meetings and pay attention to what is going on will continue to speak out against the deficit spending that is draining Cameron Park, the ham handed tactics of several of the board members and the disaster that is our General Manager
I believe the handling of the Grillin and Chillin should be the last thing this board needs to convince themselves that the CSD needs new management capable of understanding the most basic marketing priciples. Three total “participant” signups? . . Oh wait, one was from a Board member right? How long will it take this Board to realize how totally irresponsibly the management and marketing is being handled. Are you all blind to the fact that rental revenue is a “downline”, event revenue is a “downline”, staff is allegedly being asked to work uncompensated overtime which can bite this community soundly financially? All you can do is bicker with the citizens at meetings yet proving no answers to their questions and then blaming them for being angry? . . You claim you feel threatened enough to need protection? . . .Well, perhaps on that issue maybe you should! Can you point to ONE revenue stream that is making money? Is ONE too much to ask for? When all is said and done, the only thing I believe all of you together are accomplishing is digging a financial hole for this Community. I challenge you to prove me wrong. Not with BS, with real numbers.
Ms. O’Camb, You are not alone in your concern for safe local government meetings. The majority of citizens in CP know all to well that the usual malcontents we all hear from have nothing else meaningful in their collective lives worth investing time in so they pollute up our local media pages. Not one of the “usual” malcontents attended the Grillin n Chillin event. I would add with the exception of the candidate that they are all proping up Vicky Niebauer. But this is typical of their ilk. Time for ole Uncle Fester to take your medication. And Jim should stick to what he does best…Catheter commercials. I’m sure the other four nut-jobs will chime in eventually.
Wonderfully compelling comment from Malcontents. Now we all grasp the “safety” issue.
To: “mal-contents” . . .I am fortunate enough to have a very full life without attending any CSD “meetings.” I do understand how cowardly people like you might be intimidated by any such meetings. Hopefully you will be there to pay for the, in my opinion, black hole that this board and manager are creating, ’cause I sure do not want to. Further, “Mal-contents” you have no idea what I do best because you are probably not bright enough to understand it. All you can do is attempt to belittle me for being in nationwide ads helping thousands of people live better lives through the use of medical products . . yes catheters. And you say it in a manner that attempts to make fun of me. Well Coward, it doesn’t bother me a bit. I am still more of a man than you will ever be. And, how many people have you helped in your miserable life? I have provably helped thousands and I never charged nor received one penny for it although I was offered plenty. My comments are aimed solely at the miserable handling of this CSD. And just so ya know, a couple of the things I really do best are business consulting and marketing, so I know the difference between buffoons and real managers and board members. I also managed the largest airshow on the west coast years ago and ya know what, it made money. Lots of money. For years. Imagine that if you can. I guess you’d have trouble imagining that since Grillin and Chillin had such a small turnout. Yes sir, take all the people who actually know how to run such events, kick ‘em out and do it yourself when none of you know step one about event planning OR marketing. I’ll bet it really raised a lot toward paying back our Fire Guys whom I do care about and who actually understand budgeting and best business practices. . . . . and you still don’t understand the concerns of a small group of folks who do understand the black hole you are digging. So, what do you do best “mal-contents”?? Talk trash while in hiding . .ahahaha
Ms. O’Camb I noticed you and your husband at the September 19th board meeting and there was no Deputy. What happened to you? Nothing correct in fact you asked the board president to read you letter that you have submitted to this paper in to the record and she did. Did anyone attack you? No you were safe as if you were a babe in arms even without a Deputy at the meeting to protect you. I guess the violent radicals aren’t as violent as you try to portray them. I’ll give you an E for effort at trying to bolster a board of directors that walked in to last nights meeting facing a fifty thousand dollar deficit and then on the insistence of Alan Clarke voted to add thirty thousand dollars to the CSD’s red ink because the General Manager wants this additional phantom money. Oh you didn’t know about this. Perhaps you should have stayed until the meeting ended then you would know how the General Manager is bleeding this community dry for no better reason than she is an incompetent imbecile with four stooges who give her all the phantom money she wants and never ask what she wants it for or how it will benefit the citizens of Cameron Park.
Gerald, all Mrs. O’Camb and her friend Judy care about is the lake. After all they are the “Lake People” and they don’t care about other areas of CP. in fact I would say they are snobs and at this point I don’t care what she and her lake people friends say. In fact, her buddy Judy is the Mother-in-law to the prior accountant who put this district into financial jeopardy. So there, I’ve said it. So come on Malcontents, spew your lies and posion boy…
