EDITOR: I can’t believe that the publisher of the Mountain Democrat would publish such a moronic opinion in the paper, let alone write it.
The section of U.S. 50 that he chooses to call a speed trap is paid for with the injuries and loss of life due to the morons who cant follow simple rules such as a speed limit.
Mr. Esposito should probably read his own newspaper and perhaps glance at the signs posted both eastbound and westbound at Ponderosa Road which pay tribute to Officer Scott Russell, who paid the ultimate toll while protecting the citizens of the State of California and the residents of El Dorado County.

Mr. Editor, you win some and you lose some. Cannot all be winning editorials.

Thanks Wayne for getting your letter printed, as it contained some of what I said in my letter which this rag has yet to print. I'm thinking that if Esposito can't keep his facts straight or perform just an ounce of research before spouting off in his paper, then how can a subscriber believe anything he writes in the future. Anyhow, this 39yrs veteran "toll collector" will be canceling his subscription to this rag.

Scott Russell was not killed by some regular/random driver doing 10mph over the limit, he was killed by some lunatic evading police. Don't play that card! This truly is not just a speed trap but also an infraction trap; my wife was pulled over (by one of the 6 cars waiting) for tinted windows.

While Mr. Esposito could have had a bit more research in his article, I think the premise of it is correct. The feeling of the general public is that the police action on that day was a speed trap. Whether it meets the CA Vehicle Code definition of a speed trap is moot to those who drove away with a ticket for speeding, tinted windows, etc.

"The section of U.S. 50 that he chooses to call a speed trap is paid for with the injuries and loss of life due to the morons who cant follow simple rules such as a speed limit. Where is the revenue generated by this occurance? Sadly I thought the CHP officer was run down by a derainged Meth head who is now on death row for life. Mr CHP's,please add some form of fact to your post. Here is my one fact......Six CHP's on a highway off or on ramp are in the view of a majority of the good people in our county......wait for it.... its a fact... a speed trap! Big suprise. Enjoy your retirement.
