Veerkamp endorsed
EDITOR:
As we rapidly approach Election Day, Nov. 6, a day that may very well determine our future as a republic, there are important elections at the state and local levels. Since moving here almost 40 years ago, we have been very fortunate in District 3 to have had great representation over that time period.
In these times when all budgets are seriously depleted and local governments are experiencing serious cuts and eliminations, our county is no different. Since it appears that there is no magic solution to these budget problems, we need an experienced leader as our supervisor.
It is for that reason I heartily endorse Brian K. Veerkamp as my choice for District 3. He has served 14 years on the Camino Union School District Board, including several terms as board president. He is able to interpret laws, ordinances and regulations from his attending law school and his experience working in government.
Additionally he worked his way up the ladder to become fire chief of the El Dorado Hills Fire Department, working with a large staff and constant dealing with regulatory agencies at the federal, state and local levels.
As a member of a long-standing pioneer family in El Dorado County, his commitment to the county is enviable. He wants to see economic growth while still protecting our rural environment, and determining ways to deliver county services in a cost-effective manner.
In his commitment to make this community a better place to live, he plans to donate his salary and benefits back to the county. A vote for Brian will provide immediate functioning as with his experience there should not be a long learning period, as he has been involved in the functioning of government these many years.
