Vote for Rico to end Fire Tax

EDITOR:

We have one way out of the illegal Fire Tax passed by a simple majority of the Democrat Legislature with no GOP vote. The California Constitution already provides that all taxes require a two-thirds vote. Prop. 26 was specifically designed to protect taxpayers against hidden taxes disguised as fees. When they call them fees, you only need a majority vote. Proposition 26 is what will save us in the courts against the fire tax. It requires a two-thirds vote to enact taxes pretending to be fees for service. Without Prop. 26 there would be little legal basis to fight the fire tax in court.

The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is supporting Rico Oller who is working hard to help to defeat the Fire Tax. His opponent Frank Bigelow was not for Prop. 26 till he became a candidate for Assembly. Now he says he is for it. The Howard Jarvis Taxpayer Association doesn’t believe him and that is why they are for Rico Oller who will fight for the voters and taxpayers.

Vote for Rico.

I'm a Democrat and have a hard time voting for any Republican. One thing trumps political philosophy, however, and that is integrity. Rico, while we may disagree on many things, you've got my vote.

The dem's who run this state view the taxpayers as nothing more than an ATM for purchasing their office. It seems that the only way to fix California is for it to be completely broken first. The fire tax is an ingenious method for confiscating money from typically right leaning citizens while protecting left leaning citizens. Don't misunderstand the truth behind it either, every dime our state is trying to raise will be directed at public sector pensions.

When Rico Oller was our State Senator & Assembly member..... he had the John Doolittle philosophy of representing..... Can't be reached... Stop by his office.... Never available for appts.... So how can ONE legislator Change a "Fire Tax Fee" law?.... He can't change it by himself... HJTPA... has lawyers that will do it....voting for Oller will get us another "Place-sitter" nothing more...

I want to point out that while Mr Stelzmiller was chair of the Eldorado County Central Commitee he pushed for an endorsement of Rico for Congress before the filing date had closed. This is an important point for me as his predacessor because he wasn't even sure who else would be running. Once Tom McClintock and Doug Ose got into the race Rico dropped out, leaving Stelzmiller and the CC with egg on their face. Stelzmiller has had a history of "jumping the shark" in regards to backing candidates. I also find it interesting that Stelzmiller sites illegal fire taxes as a reason for voting for Rico. Chiefly because Rico's long time employee and bear hunting buddy Dan Delinger is being sued by our county for doing the exact same thing. Delinger and his pal Chris Alarcon bilked the Pioneer Fire District for tens of thousands of dollars as a fee for illegal promoting a fire tax. I find that Irony is best served cold.
