I’m a parent at UMHS but I am a fan of my son’s EDHS friends who participate in sports at El Dorado and what I know of the Wall of Fame is not being submitted in the letters that I’m reading.
The wall began in the 1980s and has only been sporadically updated; it did not portray every All League football player in EDHS’s history. The wall was not just removed; it is in the process of being moved, changed and updated to truly honor football achievements by listing all of those who achieved All League status rather than just the few that the “removed wall” honored. The new wall will also contain adequate space to add the names of future All League players.
The new wall will be displayed where everyone, including the opposition’s fans, can read the names of El Dorado’s past greats. When the new wall is done, I think some apologies will be owed to those who never “tore down” the wall but actually spent a lot of time and effort on improving and completing it.
