Once again Fox News led the crusade against the “War On Christmas.” I do believe that Fox News is correct, there is a war on Christmas, but not for the reasons they have stated.
First, let us recall what Christmas is, it is the celebration of the birth of Christ, who taught us about peace, helping the poor, loving our neighbor and to be merciful.
Walmart, opening on Thanksgiving day to hordes of pushy, selfish people trying to get a bargain on stuff, mostly for themselves, that is the war on Christmas.
The whole Santa Claus concept is the war on Christmas. And Santa Claus in its present form has nothing to do with Saint Nicolas.
The car dealer telling me to buy a new car for myself for Christmas, that is the war on Christmas.
Madonna singing “Santa baby,” that is the war on Christmas.
Going to see a violent movie on Christmas day, that is the war on Christmas.
McDonald’s, opened all day on Christmas day, thus denying its employees the opportunity to celebrate with their families, that is the war on Christmas.
And probably the most obscene violation of the spirit of Christmas, the firearms dealer telling me to buy someone a gun for Christmas, that is the war on Christmas.
If none of the above offend you, then please don’t be offended when someone wishes you a heartfelt “Happy Holiday.”
So, in closing, I hope you have a happy holiday and a good new year.
