Several churches and countless volunteers worked to make sure this winter’s shelter was the best it could be. Kudos go to Cold Springs Community Church, Green Valley Community Church, Solid Rock Faith Center, Foothills United Methodist Church, and the non-profit Christ Like Services for offering their facilities, staff and volunteers for the over night shelter.
Several other churches participated by bringing meals or providing volunteers, Federated Church, Cameron Park Christian Center, and Rolling Hills Community Church.
The shelter averaged about 23 guest per night, several families with children used the shelter, a few elderly and disabled also were in the shelter. Most shelter nights there was snacks and a movie, as well as games and companionship. It is always a concern of the volunteers and churches that the homeless now have no place to go every night. When the shelter closed sleeping bags and tents were provided and the homeless went off to find a place to camp.
The shelter program needs more volunteers and churches participating, if you or your church would like to get involved in helping us plan for next winter’s shelter program please email or call
