In my opinion, Measure L, the library parcel tax, is one of the most important local measures residents will vote on in the November election. Measure L asks voters to approve a countywide parcel tax for the support of El Dorado County public libraries. The special library tax will be in effect for 15 years at a starting rate of $17.58 per parcel (with reduced amounts for apartments, mobile homes in parks, unimproved parcels, and timeshares) — and will never exceed $25 per parcel. Measure L will replace (not add to) library taxes that some residents are already paying and may result in some residents’ taxes actually being lowered. A Yes vote means that all of the El Dorado County libraries will have stable, predictable funding for the next 15 years. Please vote yes on Measure L.
