VOLUNTEER Rafael Cardoza attaches galvanized roof panels to a caboose behind the train station in Shingle Springs on Sept. 25. The caboose got a new roof last month when Mott Roofing volunteered to put it on along with a snow and ice membrane. Volunteers continue to restore the old caboose that was parked at the county museum for 20 years. Democrat photo by Shelly Thorene
