PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA
99 CENTS
Trish Eley's Best of Show winning 2005 Ducati 749S. Eley, of Meadow Vista, started riding 20 years ago on a Yamaha XS750 Special and since that bike has owned four Ducatis. She says this is the best bike she has ever ridden. Eley has ridden all over the West Coast with her husband, Randy who rides a Ducati 848.
THE BEST OF SHOW-winning 2008 Maserati GT Coupe was owned by Amadeu Santos of El Dorado Hills, who is behind the car on the left speaking to Ross Mullins, who brought his award-winning and rare 1976 Ducati bevel drive 750 Super Sport. Photos by Larry Weitzman
SEAN RICCI'S 1974 Fiat X/19 restored to run in the Silver State Classic race. Ricci is no newcomer to vehicle restorations. He has another X/19 and a rare Fiat 124 Coupe both in the restoration process. Ricci restored a 1971 240Z into an East African Rally car which went on to win the People's Choice award at the Nissan Nationals in 2010.
THREE PIAGGIOS from left to right: David Hickok's 2009 BV 250 which he bought new and has ridden it 30,000 miles in four years. In the center is a 55,000 mile 2007 X9-500 owned and all ridden by John Day of Cameron Park. The three wheeled MP3 250 is owned by Bill Johnson of Modesto. The MP3 front tandem wheels actually lean into corners like a conventional two wheel machine. A true engineering marvel as the front wheels lock upright at very low speeds so you never have to put your feet down at a stop.
THE 1979 VESPA RALLEY 200, owned by John Day of Cameron Park, featured a unique license plate. He also brought a Piaggio X9 500 with the license plate "LUWEGEE."
GARON CURTIS, center, and Best of Show winner Michele Quaranta, are back to back discussing Vespas in separate conversations.
