STRAWBERRY CARRY - Ian Loeprich, 7, and his sister, Charlotte, 5, of Placerville both want to carry the potted wild strawberry plants purchased by their grandmother, Maggie Smith, also of Placerville at the Native Plant Sale, sponsored by the California Native Plant Society, El Dorado County Chapter, at the Government Center on April 5. Smith states that she purchased the strawberries because she has fond memories of eating wild strawberries as a child in Scotland. The proceeds of the sale benefit public education on the virtues of landscaping with native plants. Democrat photo by Shelly Thorene
