The Western El Dorado County Narcotics Enforcement Team raided a local business after obtaining a warrant, finding an illegal marijuana grow and starting off a chain of raids throughout Thursday.

At about 7 a.m., WENET served the warrant on Hangtown Medical at 3081 Newtown Rd. in Placerville, said deputy district attorney Worth Dikeman.”An indoor grow was located at the business,” Dikeman said.

A second warrant was simultaneously served at 11563 Sutters Mill Circle in Gold River. Michael Andrew Kane, 45, was arrested at the residence on suspicion of cultivating marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale. He is being held at the El Dorado County Jail on $17,500 bail.

“While serving the warrant on Newtown Road the officers developed probable cause to believe that there was another grow in the same building and obtained a second warrant for 3079 Newtown Rd.,” Dikeman said. Another indoor grow was found while serving the warrant.

Information from the site led to a third warrant, issued for the person leasing the building.

WENET was able to serve a fourth warrant based on information gained from the Gold River site, which was then served in the Sacramento area.

“I don’t know if any other persons were arrested,” Dikeman said, “but I do know that the WENET officers had a long day.”

if they could just have "a long day" getting the meth and pills off the street, we would all benefit far more.
