P’ville had parades before electricity, been in the parade in worse weather, water was not that bad, people walking could avoid water, decision to cancel was asinine.

In case you were not aware there were spots of Main St and Broadway with 4+ inches if standing water, power was out to most of main st until a little after 2pm and gusts of winds 40+ mph during the 11am-1pm hours.

So to the PPD Chief and Staff I applaud you for thinking about the thousand + people that would have been in Placerville making and already bad situation worse.

Maybe next year before winter sets in the city should clean out the storm drains to eliminate the extreme amount of pooling water. Just a thought.

Let’s see. 34 years of parade with rain, flooding, snow, hail, sideways rain and sleet, just to name a few of the “problems.” But the parade, which is advertised “rain or shine,” was cancelled this year by the government.
Didn’t anyone watch the weather forecast that said the rain would let up around 11 or noon on Sunday?
