EDSO responded to the apartment on Cimarron Road in Cameron Park and contacted the mother, a press release stated. Based on the investigation, Jeffrey Michael Ellsworth, a known registered sex offender, was identified as the suspect. A transient living in Cameron Park, Ellsworth fled the apartment complex before deputies arrived, but was tracked to an unrelated address off of Oak Hill Road in Pleasant Valley.
Ellsworth was subsequently arrested and booked into the county jail on felony charges of child molestation.
