Ashley Culver, 22, of Shingle Springs, was the victim of the accident, CHP Officer Ron Davenport said.
Culver’s 1997 Pontiac was heading eastbound on Highway 50 at the Bass Lake Road undercrossing at 2:05 a.m. when the car left the roadway, off the west dirt embankment, said CHP Officer Frank Rodriquez. The car launched into the air and traveled about 65 feet, slamming into the north shoulder edge of Bass Lake Road, where it burst into flames. Culver died at the scene.
