A bear was seen on Pony Express Trail in Camino on Wednesday.
Sandy Petley, who was outside with her husband and neighbor, noticed the bear crossing the street after being in her neighbor’s yard. She thinks it is the same bear that was seen six-to-eight weeks ago by her neighbor’s daughter.
“My neighbor’s daughter saw a bear in in the driveway when she came home at 11:30 at night,” she said.
Wednesday morning, the bear made its way through Petley’s foliage to look up at a tree in their yard, before crossing back over the street from where she thought it came from, she said. “It looked like it was going to climb the tree,” she said.
The bear itself was about three feet tall, she said, and “bigger than my 150-pound dog.”
She believed that the bear was after food, as her neighbor has an apple tree, she said.
This was the first time in living at the residence for eight years that Petley had seen a bear.
Bear sightings should be reported to the local Department of Fish and Game dispatch center, which can be reached at 916-358-1300.

Camino is high in the foothills. Bears might live there too. Leave the bear alone.
