South Lake Tahoe police have arrested a 64-year-old man on suspicion of an attempted robbery at El Dorado Savings Bank in the Bijou Center last week.
Robert Allen Larson was arrested about 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning after Barton Memorial Hospital staff reported Larson admitted to being the individual involved in the Thursday afternoon robbery attempt, said Lt. Brian Williams. Police arrived at the hospital and took Larson into custody, Williams said.
“The suspect passed a demand note to a teller and then appeared to change his mind about following through with the robbery,” according to a previous statement from police. “No weapon was ever threatened or displayed. The suspect left through the front doors and rode a bicycle eastbound.”
Larson confessed to the robbery attempt after being taken into custody, Williams said. Larson remained in custody in El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe Tuesday afternoon. It is unknown whether he has an attorney.
