Board of Education vacancy in Trustee Area V

L. Eugene Rasmussen, a well-respected member of the El Dorado County Board of Education since 1996, resigned his membership from the board effective Nov. 6, which created a vacancy in Trustee Area V.

The board would like to fill this vacancy through a provisional appointment process on Dec. 10. All interested residents of Supervisorial District V are encouraged to apply. The applicant will be asked to submit a letter of application and a candidate information sheet to Jeremy M. Meyers, El Dorado County Superintendent of Schools, 6767 Green Valley Road, Placerville. The deadline for this submission is Dec. 3. To request the candidate information sheet, please contact Janet Maruniak via phone or e-mail at 530-295-2217, jmaruniak@edcoe.org.

Regular El Dorado County Board of Education meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month, with occasional special meetings called. Some personal time is required individually for study and growth, such as attending county or state meetings. If you have any questions about what being a member of the El Dorado County Board of Education might require of you in terms of additional time and responsibility, contact Meyers at 530-295-2229.

Applicants chosen to participate in the interview process will be notified by telephone and/or e-mail no later than Wednesday, Dec. 4. It is anticipated that the provisional appointee will be officially seated at the Dec. 10 board meeting following the interviews. This provisional appointment is for the unexpired term in Trustee Area V, and will expire on Nov. 24, 2016.

If you have any questions, you are encouraged to contact El Dorado County Superintendent of Schools Jeremy M. Meyers at 530-295-2229.
