A suspect is being searched for after a failed armed robbery attempt late Saturday night in Placerville.
The suspect entered the 76 gas station on Broadway just before midnight on Aug. 4, Lt. Kim Nida of the Placerville Police Department said.
“He entered the business, waited for a customer to leave, and approached the clerk,” Nida said. “After some other communication, the suspect asked for money. The clerk backed away into an office and called 911.” The suspect, who had produced a knife during the confrontation, left before PPD arrived, Nida said.
PPD has a lead on the suspect, who is not being named, and Nida said the department is hopeful he will be caught quickly.
