Have a hankering for something lacy and naughty? Then stop by “Dirty Birdy’s.”

Owned by 21-year old Brittney Graves, the boutique lingerie store offers an assortment of ruffled and lacy underwear and bras, fish net stockings, corsets, cinchers, tutus, thongs, hand painted silk scarves, nighties, feathered hair extensions, draw bag purses, and vintage romance novels. And for the more adventurous there are French maid costumes and feathered wings.

The new store opened in November. Graves said business was good in December but slowed down in January. She’s grateful that other business owners in the downtown have been so helpful with advice and support during the start-up of her venture.

The name for the store came from her nickname which is Birdy. “And Dirty rhymes with Birdy,” she said. “It’s a cute little phrase.”

Graves believes that lingerie can have a positive influence on women.

“Women can come to the store and have fun and when they go away they leave with a more positive body image. They leave knowing that underneath it all they are attractive and feeling pretty. It’s a girlie thing,” she smiled.

Most of her customers are women but occasionally a man wanders in looking for something for a wife or girlfriend. Graves hopes to expand her offerings in the future with swimsuits during the summer and costumes around Halloween.

This year she will also help sponsor a woman who is a victim of war. This is through an organization called

In the meantime she’s content to sell the fantasy that is embodied in lingerie.

People can visit the store upstairs at 420 Main Street, Placerville. Hours are 12:30-7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.Friday and Saturday. Her Website is
