Briggs to run for treasurer

Adding his name to the list of those running for Treasurer-Tax Collector this year is El Dorado County Supervisor Ron Briggs, whose term on the Board of Supervisors expires at the end of this year.

Briggs will face off against C.L. Raffety, CPA.

In the District 5 Supervisor’s race, Michelle Sweeney of South Lake Tahoe initially took out papers to run for supervisor but later withdrew. Other candidates from South Lake Tahoe who are still in the race include Gerri Grego (project manager), Kenneth Curtzwiler (businessman), Sue Novasel (businesswoman) and Angela Swanson (city council member). They are joined by Kevin Brown (businessman) and Teresa Piper (retail clerk) of Pollock Pines.

The list of those running for Supervisor, District 4, remains unchanged including: Scott McNeil (board member, CPCSD — Cameron Park), Tim Palmer (educator — Cool), Mike Pettibone (businessman — Shingle Springs), Michael Ranalli (businessman — Lotus), Dave Souza (rancher — Garden Valley), Winston Pingrey (private investigator — Shingle Springs), Howard Penn (businessman — Coloma) and Lori Parlin (community activist — Shingle Springs).

Candidates for Superior Court Judge, Office 1, are Vicki Ashworth, David Combellack and Joseph Weinberger. In Office 3, the sole candidate for Superior Court Judge is Suzanne Kingsbury. In Office 4, the sole candidate for Superior Court Judge is Steven Bailey. Candidates for Superior Court Judge, Office 5, are Joseph Hoffman and Dylan Mary Sullivan. For Superior Court Judge, Office 6, the sole candidate is James Robert Wagoner.

Running for reelection as incumbents for county positions are Jeremy Meyers for Superintendent of Schools, Karl Weiland for Assessor, Vern Pierson for District Attorney, Bill Schultz for Recorder-Clerk, John D’Agostini for Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator and Rich Briner for Surveyor.

Incumbent Auditor-Controller Joe Harn, CPA, will face Mike Owen, CPA.

Jason Mallory, a writer/journalist from South Lake Tahoe is running for U.S. Representative, 4th District, against incumbent Tom McClintock.

Bogdan “Bo” Ambrozewicz has been joined by Erick Hinzman, and Alma Marie Triche in running for governor against Gov. Jerry Brown.

Candidates for most offices have until March 7 to file their declaration of candidacy and nomination papers.
