Burke’s Corner: July 4, 2014

By Burke Bruttig

Burke’s Corner is a once-a-week photo corner of answers to questions of  seriousness, controversy or lightness in El Dorado County. Look for me in the community each week to ask you the question of the week and get your answer! For future question suggestions, comments or contact, Burke can be reached at [email protected]

Question: What are you really good at?
(Asked in downtown Placerville and at the El Dorado County Fair)

Colburn “Colby” Graves
Somerset

I am really good at being a father to my two little girls. It gives me purpose and focus to be the best parent.

Vicki Codde
Shingle Springs

I am really good at baking pies. Apple pies are my specialty. Key lime pies runs a close second. I just finished baking 27 pies for my son’s wedding. All of them were gorgeous and delicious.

Alex Chavez
Stockton

I am really good at mathematics. I love math. It was something in school and about numbers that really calmed me down … no matter how hard the equation was. I will not stop until I come up with the correct solution to a math problem. Math will never get old with me and it will never stop being used.

Kristi Parker
Placerville

I can’t really say I’ve ever thought of myself as a good mother because I often feel like I’m not doing a good enough job. But when I look at our four amazing children, I feel such pride in who they are. I have to believe, maybe, I am doing better than I thought. My favorite thing to do is “mothering.”

Next week’s question:
What is your favorite food to preserve and enjoy?
