CalTrans road work on Highway 50 continues

Multiple short and long-term roadwork is taking place on Highway 50 in El Dorado County. The following is the most recent list of all the ongoing CalTrans projects.

Long-term projects

U. S. Highway 50 from the Sacramento County line to Bass Lake Road: Work resumes on a $31 million project by El Dorado County to add bus/carpool lanes to U. S. Highway 50 in south El Dorado County.

U.S. Highway 50 from Bass Lake under crossing to Shingle Springs Road: Motorists can expect east and westbound lane restrictions and ramp closures from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Saturday. A contractor is scheduled to do grinding and paving work.

U.S. Highway 50/Missouri Flat Interchange Improvements: Work resumes on a $40.5 million project. The project includes reconfiguration to a four-lane interchange; auxiliary lanes between the interchange and the Forni Road/Western Placerville Drive Interchange; widening, addition of a bike/pedestrian facility between Missouri Flat Road and Placerville Drive. Completion is expected 2012.

U.S. Highway 50 from Missouri Flat Road to Placerville Drive (Forni Road/ Fairgrounds): Motorists can expect east and westbound lane restrictions and ramp closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do highway construction.

U.S. Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe: Work resumes on a  $40.6 million project to widen shoulders, construct new sidewalks, add bike lanes, install new roadside drainage systems and improve signal operations from Trout Creek Bridge  to Ski Run Blvd.  Completion is expected in 2012-2013.

U. S. Highway 50 from Tallac Avenue to Bal Bijou Road:  Motorists can expect No. 2 east and westbound lane and shoulder restrictions from (midnight Sunday) 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. (noon) Monday through (9 a.m. Friday) Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do paving work.

U. S. Highway 50 from Fremont Avenue to Ski Run Boulevard:  Motorists can expect No. 2 east and westbound lane and shoulder restrictions from (midnight Sunday) 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. (noon) Monday through (9 a.m. Friday) Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do drainage, curb, gutter and sidewalk work.

U.S. Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe: Work starts mid-August on a $7.3 million project to widen shoulders, construct new sidewalks, add bike lanes, install new roadside drainage systems and improve signal operations from Ski Run Boulevard to Wildwood Avenue.  Completion is expected in 2013.

Short-term projects

State Route 49 from South Street to Cannon: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls work from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday. A CalTrans crew is scheduled to do drainage work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado and Placer Counties) from State Route 193 in Cool to the Bear River bridge at the Placer County line: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls in various locations from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. A CalTrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.

U.S. Highway 50 from Carson Creek Bridge to Ray Lawyer over crossing: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane and ramp restrictions from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through (Saturday 10 a.m.) Saturday. A contractor is scheduled to install k-rail, roadway excavation, grinding and paving work.

U.S. Highway 50 at the Shingle Springs under crossing: Motorists can expect various east and westbound No. 1, No. 2 lane and ramp restrictions from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday.  A CalTrans crew is scheduled to bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 from the Greenstone Road under crossing to El Dorado Road: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane and ramp restrictions from 7 p.m.  to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday. A CalTrans crew is scheduled to do bridge, grinding and paving work.

U.S. Highway 50 from the Sawmill under crossing at Ridgeway to the South Fork American River near Ice House Road: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane and ramp closures from 6 a.m. to (midnight) 12 a.m. Monday through Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do grinding and paving work.

U.S. Highway 50 from 30 Mile Stone tract to Forni tract: Motorists can expect various east and westbound lane restrictions from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.  A CalTrans crew is scheduled to do shoulder work.

U.S. Highway 50 at Sand Flat Campground: Motorists can expect east and westbound left and right shoulder work from 4 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through FridayA CalTrans crew is scheduled to do sign work.

U.S. Highway 50 at 34 Mile Stone Road: Motorists can expect east and westbound number 1 and shoulder restrictions from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through FridayA CalTrans crew is scheduled to do sign work.

U.S. Highway 50 from Wrights Lake Road to Forni tract: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday (noon 12 p.m. Friday).  A CalTrans crew is scheduled to do drainage work.

U.S. Highway 50 from Pyramid Creek tract to Sierra Ski Ranch Road (Sierra at Tahoe): Motorists can expect east and westbound lane and right shoulder work from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday.  A CalTrans crew is scheduled to do sign work.

U. S. Highway 50 from Fairway Avenue to Wildwood Avenue:  Motorists can expect No. 2 westbound lane and shoulder restrictions from 8 p.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday through (10 a.m. Friday) Friday.  A contractor is scheduled to do drainage work.
