A house fire at 3010 Merrywood Circle in Cameron Park burned for 20 minutes before being doused.

Called in at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, firefighters from Cameron Park, Cal fire, El Dorado Hills and El Dorado County fire responded. Four engines, a truck and a medic unit were at the scene.

Cal Fire Battalion Chief Mark Branton said the origin of the fire was unknown but an investigator was already working on the cause.

Damage to the home was limited to three rooms and the attic.

No one was at home at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries.

Lou Ford, who lives next to the damaged home, said he tried knocking down the fire with a garden hose aimed at the roof. “But it did almost nothing,” he said.
