Much work has to be done. We elected officials and pay Bureaucrats to represent the interests of the County and its residents. The dream of every Attorney is to get a cut of well-meaning Grant offers and public funds. EDAC's local attorney Jim Brunello, has inserted EDAC as some kind of planning authority and now wants funding for his made up level of government. The one event I noted during the Brunello effort was that the County's Special use requirements on the Brunello family substandard industrial development (in my neighborhood) have been deleted keeping dirt roads dumping onto Rural Residential roads. Heavy Industrial Traffic Speed past School Bus Stops. Rural Bridges and Rural roads need annual repair which is not needed in confirming neighborhoods. This may sound good and there are well meaning people involved, but frankly, we are in a recession, big business is not likely to want to move here at this time (but their employees would like to live in Rural El Dorado County and telecommute) and our most productive factors (like apple hill) promises the most net revenue in our County. Rethink this priority.

EDAC continues to move forward one slow step at a time. They are now finally getting into the issues that drove the creation of the committee in the first place. This group has saved the county millions of dollars through their efforts. Collaborative process can work with strong leadership.

If these meetings are all the same up and down the hill--there is a problem. At our town meeting--people were not allowed to speak...words were guided. Many new voices didnt even know our history. This is not an example of "listening" to a community. We love tourists...I love family events--I am about children. We had logging days, wagon train, both parades (for years). People come through for christmas trees and wine. They get off at sly park--every one in town will guide people down to camino for apples. I love this statement "“The Apple Hill Growers are another independent bunch,” Brunello added. “They’ve never asked for or received a cent from anyone, but look what they do for this county.” Our Pollock Pines community center was built up and paid for by the people of Pollock and Camino (and is still maintained by the people--not any government) Here in Pollock--many different organizations worked together to make our fourth of July great family event. People came in a complimented us on being a warm community. Government wants to make more money off of us--remember the little library (Our county building--1242 sq ft) supervisors have not maintained it in 30--50 years. Our little league field is now up for sale--are they going to buy it for our children ? We have great schools--who are supporting not only academics--but the arts. We have caring churches--that come out into the community to help. We have groups such as the Rotary, Lions, are center itself--that raise money to help families in need. All I heard at the meeting is a few people saying maybe our buildings should all look the same. One person suggested using the theme of "Painted Ladies" or "gingerbread" houses--which is "Victorian" referring to the reign of Queen Victoria. We are a lumber town. Pollock has always been about lumber. Honor the loggers, bring back logging days. Let the wagon train set up over a weekend. Halloween was great--many many people worked on that--from several bases in the community. No one wants one theme--even the trees come in many colors.
