Landscape water surveys
Available through the rebate program, to increase your exterior water efficiency, you may request a complimentary landscape water survey by applying for the Smart Irrigation Rebate programs described below. Start by downloading the application and reviewing terms and conditions.
During the exterior survey by a field technician, you may also request new low-flow showerheads and bathroom faucet aerators, toilet flappers and toilet tank dams to reduce flush volume. If your building is eligible, the new plumbing fixtures will be provided to you for self-installation. Note: There is no obligation to make improvements or submit a rebate request after your landscape survey.
Smart irrigation controllers
In order to be eligible for a rebate, and before you make a purchase, you must first submit an application, receive a complimentary landscape water survey, and be pre-qualified for a Smart Irrigation Controller. Receive up to a $400 rebate for the replacement of an automatic clock with a SWAT tested “Smart” climate-based irrigation controller that uses either weather or soil moisture data to determine when and how much to water. You may also receive up to a $150 rebate for the installation of the controller by a participating installer or other licensed landscape contractor. To be eligible, and to ensure water savings, the controller must replace an existing automatic clock that has irrigated at least 2,000 square feet of landscape for the past 12 months.

Send your completed application to 2890 Mosquito Road, Placerville 95667; or scan and e-mail to [email protected] If you have questions, contact EID’s Office of Water Efficiency at the above address or call 530-642-4126. Rebates are available to EID and city of Placerville water service customers, and are funded in part through a CALFED/U.S. Bureau of Reclamation water efficiency grant.
Irrigation system improvements
In order to be eligible for a rebate, and before you make improvements, you must first submit an application, receive a complimentary landscape water survey and be pre-qualified for specific irrigation system improvements. Receive up to a $450 rebate for qualified material costs of water efficiency improvements to your existing irrigation system. Up to $150 of the $450 may be used for labor installation costs.

Reduce your sewer bills and save water. EID is the recipient of a Proposition 50 water efficiency grant from the California Department of Water Resources for the “Commercial, Industrial, Institutional (CII) Submetering with ET Controller Program.”
CII customers currently on mixed use water meters — both building and landscape water usage billed through the same meter — can apply for this grant funding. CII customers receiving EID sewer service billed by volume of water used can immediately benefit from reduced sewer billings. A submeter tracks water used for the landscape irrigation and this water demand is then subtracted from the main meter that is used to calculate the sewer bill. The program is available to EID’s CII water service customers with 5,000 square feet or more of irrigated landscape area.
Download a short eligibility survey to see if you qualify, or download a cost sharing matrix for additional details. Eligible CII customers will receive a complimentary landscape water survey. EID then provides a submeter for the customer to install and connect to their water system downstream of the EID meter. After the submeter has been installed and accepted by EID, the customer then receives a $1,000 product voucher and a $300 installation voucher to obtain, and have professionally installed, a “Smart” ET irrigation controller to further improve water efficiency for the irrigation system. ET refers to evapotranspiration — a combination of moisture lost to the atmosphere and used by the plants.
You may also download and complete a customer agreement and application and drop off or send by mail to 2890 Mosquito Road, Placerville 95667. Contact EID’s Office of Water Efficiency at 530-642-4126 for more information.
ET controllers vouchers
This Proposition 50 grant program is directed toward commercial, industrial and institutional customers (schools, parks, special districts), plus owner associations that maintain common or front yard landscaping. Once a site is approved, EID vouchers are issued for the purchase and installation of weather-based irrigation (ET) controllers, which must replace automatic irrigation clocks that irrigate at least 2,000 square feet. Contact EID’s water conservation coordinator, Sharon Fraser, at 530-642-4112 or [email protected] to discuss your eligibility.
