El Dorado County Sponsors a new Farmers’ Market

By June 14, 2013

Come and purchase lunch and your weekend supplies of fresh, organically grown produce at the El Dorado County Library.

Starting Friday, June 14, there will be a new Certified Farmers’ Market open to the public. The Farmers’ Market is the brainchild of El Dorado Risk Management department, which wanted to provide the El Dorado County staff and public with a “healthy alternative” at lunch time, and “support our local growers.”

The county has partnered with the El Dorado County Certified Farmers’ Market Association, which currently operates several very successful markets throughout the county. Produce sold at Farmers’ Markets are freshly picked and visitors are able to purchase directly from the growers. Local vendors will also offer merchandise in addition to lunch items.

Accepted forms of payment include cash, Senior Nutrition and WIC Checks. EBT will be accepted in the future.

The Farmers’ Market will be held every Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting the second Friday in June and continuing through September. It will be located at the Placerville Branch of the County library at 345 Fair Lane in Placerville. For more information about the Farmers’ Market please contact Sherri Adams at [email protected] or by phone at 530-621-6084.
