Eldorado National Forest seeking firefighters

The Eldorado National Forest is hiring temporary firefighters for this season’s fire crews. Wildland firefighters work in a variety of specialized positions, including fire engine crews, fuels management, hand crews, helitack, interagency hotshot crews, patrol and prevention technicians and fire lookout positions.

The deadline for applications is Feb. 12.

Information on the various job opportunities and instructions for submitting online applications are available at fs.usda.gov/eldorado.

“Our fire crews are the backbone for fighting wildfires and protecting our communities,” said Forest Supervisor Laurence Crabtree. “We need a diverse, dependable workforce to join us in our mission of protecting the land and serving the people.”

Applicants need to be U.S. citizens and at least 18 years of age. Selected candidates will have to successfully pass a physical fitness test and may be required to take a drug test. Applications will be submitted online through USAJobs – http://usajobs.gov.
