The El Dorado Western Railroad is a program of the El Dorado County Historical Museum. We are not a “sub-branch” branch of the historical society as Chris notes in his article. It’s the newest county-run railroad in California, and the only one that operated year-round in Northern California.

The railroad currently gives train rides in the town of El Dorado on the 1st and 3rd Sundays and in Shingle Springs on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. Rides are offered from non to 4 p.m. After the first of the year, we will offer special trains on the 5th Sunday of the month. See our Facebook page for news and updates.

For the love of God, How many bike and hiking trails do we need? The Rail Road is a huge part of US, California and Eldorado County history! These three supervisors should really consider moving to the big cities! What is next, no gold fish or soda pop?

The three stooges in action, This is more tantrum throwing and anger over the JPA stopping their earlier plans to uproot the tracks, pathetic as usual and good riddance to two of them soon. At least some new people are coming in and I hope they have some better ideas and more competence in office.
