Fatal head-on on Lotus Rd.

By From page A1 | April 17, 2013

A head-on collision on Lotus Road near Coloma Road left a woman dead Tuesday morning.

CHP responded to the fatal collision around 8:30 a.m. April 16. It was determined that a 19-year-old woman in a silver Ford Focus had been traveling southbound when she drifted into the northbound lane of Lotus Road, CHP Officer Quinn Cuthbertson said. She hit a white Ford Explorer and was killed instantly. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

High speed was not a factor, Cuthbertson said.

The driver of the Explorer, a 42-year-old male, was flown by Cal Star 3 to Sutter Roseville, said Battalion Chief Mike Pott of El Dorado County Fire. Zack, the man’s 3-year-old chocolate lab, was being held for him. Pott noted the man had “self-extricated from the vehicle” but had suffered moderate injuries with the potential for serious injuries.

County Fire, Rescue Fire and Medic 28 responded to the accident.
