A woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a traffic accident in Cool on Friday.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle accident in the 2400 block of Highway 193 in Cool, three miles west of Lou Allen Lane, just before noon on Sept. 14, a press release stated.
Responding alongside CHP officers, the vehicle, which CHP Officer Dan Stark said was a 2003 Toyota Echo, was located 30 or 40 yards off the road, flipped onto its roof. The accident was likely not immediately reported. Stark said it was reported by a passerby, “a few days after it occurred.” It is unknown when the accident itself took place.
The sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Marissa Forster, 22, of Georgetown, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was found buckled in to her seat, Stark said. The coroner, the press release states, determined the cause of death to be “massive and immediate head trauma.”
A CHP investigation is ongoing.
