The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a candidates forum 6 p.m. Sept. 20 at the El Dorado County Library in Placerville.
From 6 to 7:15 p.m. Brian Veerkamp and Richard Barb will discuss their platforms and why each feels qualified to represent District 3 on the Board of Supervisors.
From 7:30 to 8:45 p.m., Joe Hoffman and appointed Judge Kurt Stracener will tell us why they deserve election as Superior Court Judge.
The audience will be able to submit questions, and each candidate will be given equal time to respond.
This event is sponsored jointly by the EDC Library programs: “California Reads: Searching for Democracy,” and the local chapter of the League of Women Voters.

To President L.W.V. Kathleen McCoy, You wrote a letter last month stating how non-partisan your club is. And how angry you were that our counties local politicians have decided to shun your groups functions. I did a little research and I looked at who your Org. partnered up with for this shin-dig and couldn’t help but notice your alliance with “California Reads: Searching for Democracy”. They have an interesting board like, Margaret Shelleda Exec. Dir. California Federation of Teachers. Or Curtis Shepard, Director of children youth and family SVC. L.A. gay and lesbian alliance. Or Benjamin Jealous, President and CEO NAACP. My favorite is Rodney Williams Senior VP Hennessy, makes for a nice party. I looked and didn’t find anyone who is a registered Republican on that board. Just a little FYI at ya. So, you know we know, and to be honest you’ve always known.
