Gun group backs Barb

CAMINO — Flanked by Rico Oller supporters, retired senator H.L. Richardson announced that the Gun Owners of California Campaign Committee (GOCCC), is endorsing Richard Barb in El Dorado County’s runoff election for Supervisor in District 3.

Barb’s endorsement came during Richardson’s speech to approximately 120 community leaders attending Oller’s fundraising barbecue at High Hill Ranch on Aug. 25.  GOCCC has also endorsed Rico Oller for state Assembly.

“It’s important that we elect leaders who understand our Constitution and the true intentions of our Founding Fathers,” said Richardson, who is also a resident of El Dorado County. “GOCCC has carefully considered this race and is proud to endorse Richard Barb for Supervisor here in El Dorado County.”

“It is critical that we elect leaders like Richard Barb who understand that the amendments added to our Constitution in the Bill of Rights are individual safeguards put there to protect us from overreaching government. We also need to elect more leaders, like Richard Barb, who bring their wholesome family values and concern for freedom and liberty to public office,” said Richardson.

“Richard Barb is a certified Range Safety Officer, family man, 4-H Leader, first lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol, and licensed contractor with a vision for fixing our business climate and rebuilding our local economy,” said Richardson.

Gun Owners of California was founded by Richardson in 1975. Gun Owners of California Campaign Committee is the nation’s oldest political action committee dedicated to the defense of the Second Amendment and the preservation of shooting sports.

The election will be on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

  • We Need MORE GUNSAugust 31, 2012 - 1:19 pm

John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson and their cohorts are the ones who gave almost every person in the country the right to carry a gun. Are they above being wrong ? It is far too late to change that, But the stats are staggering - BOTTOM LINE IS * 83 PER DAY AND over 30,000 DIE EACH YEAR by guns from ALL causes * Over 1,200,000 Americans have died as a result of guns JUST since the end of the Vietnam War 40 years ago - THAT is more than ALL the soldiers we have lost in battle IN ALL the wars we have EVER fought Going back to 1776 - That IS fact -- did those men and women die so we can continue to kill each other ????? That does not make much sense. The right to bear arms was given in the late 1700's because we did NOT have a standing Army at the time and we needed more defense from other nations and an armed volunteer civilian militia was the best way to do that. Even IF 1 % of those who have died in JUST the past 40 years were from Justifiable causes - that is still 12,000. or 300 per year ( not quite 1 per day ) Bill
