Head-on collision results in airlift

A head-on collision on Pleasant Valley Road resulted in one driver being airlifted with severe injuries on July 6.

Bonnie Chapman, 70, of Placerville, was traveling on Pleasant Valley east of Demyhig Lane around 3:50 p.m. when her 2002 Honda Civic crossed over into oncoming traffic in the westbound lane and collided with a 2000 Ford F-150, said CHP Officer Dan Stark.

Alejandro Tatacoya of Diamond Springs, the other driver, suffered only minor injuries. Chapman was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center by Cal Star for what Stark called “severe injuries.”

Stark said she “has no recollection of the event. It’s unknown why she traveled over the double yellows.”

    Does anyone know if this is Mrs.Bonnie Chapman that worked and retired form Indian Creek Elementary School? If so can anyone tell me any information on her status? She was my favorite teacher all throughout my school years and changed my life. Any information would be highly appreciated. thank you

    Yes, this is your favorite teacher. A slow recovery is anticipated. She is expected to be moved from ICU early this week. She knows you’ve asked about her.
