ENJOY THE RIGHT NOW:
 If you read the “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff” calendar, you will discover the following thought: “You can learn to be happy with what you have by becoming more present-moment oriented, by not focusing so much on what you want. RETURN TO THE 1850s:
”Coloma Gold Rush Live” will take place at the Marshall Gold Discovery Historic Park in Coloma from Saturday, Oct. 13, through Monday, Oct. 15, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For three days you can re-live the 1850s. Visitors will be treated to authentic tent encampments, live music, trade demonstrations, and a merchant market. There will be gold panning contests for kids and adults and historic re-enactments. LEGAL HELP FOR SENIORS:
A senior legal seminar titled “You Have the Power: Powers of Attorney and Advanced Health Care Directives” is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., at the Placerville Senior Center dining hall, 937 Spring St., Placerville. To register for this class, call 530-621-6154.

ESTATE PLANNING DISCUSSION: 
The “Coffee, Tea and Friends” group invites seniors and caregivers to a morning of fun, games and special speakers. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Cameron Park CSD Community Center, 2502 Country Club Drive.  The “Who Knew?” calendar notes the following advice: “Even after you’ve cleaned out your purse, it still has crumbs, grime, and little pieces of god-only-knows-what at the bottom. Quickly clean it out with a lint roller. Just roll the inside and you’re done.

FUN-FILLED FASHION SHOW:
 The Placerville Fellowship and Newcomers Club’s annual fashion show and luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 18, at Cold Springs Country Club, 6500 Club House Drive, Placerville. Social hour starts at 11 a.m., followed by a delicious lunch, a silent auction and fashions modeled by club members. I have the privilege of escorting the attractive models. NEW LOCATION FOR SUPPORT GROUP:
A free caregiver support group will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., at a new location, Greenwood Community Center, 4401 Highway 193, Greenwood, adjacent to the California Conservancy Corps. Refreshments will be served. Free respite care is available to qualified caregivers Pre-authorization is required for respite services. SOBER GRAD NIGHT FUNDRAISER: 
On Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., at Back Forty Texas BBQ, 3977 Durock Rd., Shingle Springs, a portion of your purchase goes directly to support the Ponderosa High School Sober Grad Night.  Placerville Elks Lodge is sponsoring a Christmas Craft Fair and Sale on Friday, Oct. 19, and Friday, Oct. 26, noon to 6 p.m, at the Lodge, 3821 Quest Ct., Shingle Springs. One of the Lodge’s community charities is the Foster Children of El Dorado County. Proceeds from this craft holiday fair will benefit the foster children and their foster families.
