AVOIDING NURSING HOME: 
The “Coffee, Tea and Friends Group” will meet tomorrow, Feb. 12, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the Cameron Park Community Center, 2502 Country Club Dr. Marian Lowe from Cameron Park Physical Therapy will discuss easy exercises you can do at home to help you maintain strength and balance. This presentation is free.

LONG-TERM CARE ADVICE:
 Diana Steele, Senior Attorney from the Placerville Senior Center, is presenting a class titled “Planning for Long-Term Care” on Tuesday (tomorrow), Feb. 12, at 1 p.m., at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center. To reserve your spot, call 916-358-3575.

FRANCIE DILLON FUNDRAISER:
 The El Dorado Hills Library is presenting the “Francie Dillon Fundraiser” on Friday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the library, 7455 Silva Valley Parkway. Admission price is $5 per person or $15 per family. There will be performances by the “Poodlums and Puppet Art Theater.” This fundraiser is to celebrate and thank Francie for her performances for children. All proceeds will help pay for medical expenses.

ROAST BEEF IN LATROBE:
 Eldo Rebekah Lodge is having their annual roast beef dinner on Feb. 17 from noon to 3 p.m. at the IOOF Hall in Latrobe. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Proceeds will benefit heart and arthritis organizations.

FOOD AND EDUCATION COMBINATION: 
The Sons in Retirement group (SIR) will have their monthly luncheon meeting on Thursday, Feb. 14, at the 50 Grand Steakhouse in Pollock Pines. Guest speakers will be Mary Cory and Bill Gray. They will discuss “Mining in El Dorado County.” Social hour starts at 11:30 a.m., and lunch is served at noon.

LEARN ABOUT MARIJUANA LAWS: 
An El Dorado County Legal Professions Association general meeting and MCLE credit workshop is scheduled for Feb. 19. Registration is from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Presentations by Attorney Dain Weiner and a representative from the Sheriff’s Department will be offered from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This presentation will be at the offices of Child Support Services, 3883 Ponderosa Rd., Shingle Springs. REHABBING SKUNKS:
 Classes titled “Rehabbing Skunks” and “Rehabbing Squirrels” are being presented by Sierra Wildlife Rescue on Saturday, Feb. 23. The skunks’ class is from 10 a.m. to noon. HELP FOR ENERGY BILLS: We received the following information from the El Dorado County Department of Human Services: “The federally-funded Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) helps income-eligible families pay their energy bills. If you are eligible, HEAP can help you pay for electricity, wood, propane, or heating oil. Benefits are paid once a year. The amount of the benefit depends on your household income and size and how much your energy bill costs compared to your income. Even if utilities are included in your rent, HEAP may be able to help.
