Eddie T. Keller, a respected local judge who served on the bench for more than 20 years, has endorsed veteran criminal prosecutor Vicki Ashworth for El Dorado County Superior Court Judge, Office 1.

“Since criminal cases account for over 80 percent of the work of our court, it is essential that we have a judge who has that background,” said Keller. “Mrs. Ashworth perfectly fits that bill to a tee…I have every confidence that she will show compassion when necessary and treat all who appear before her with fairness, patience and justice. In short, she will prove to be an excellent judge.”

With more than 16 years of experience successfully prosecuting cases ranging from sexual assault to special-circumstance homicide, Ashworth is endorsed by current El Dorado County Superior Court judges, the Deputy Sheriff’s Association, the Mountain Democrat, fellow prosecutors, investigators, law enforcement leaders and local residents.

After graduating in 1996 from the McGeorge School of Law with a focus on criminal law, Ashworth began her prosecutorial career in the Amador County District Attorney’s Office, where she worked her way up to an independent and serious caseload in just two years. In 1999, she joined the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office as a Deputy DA, taking on a wide range of criminal-court assignments and successfully obtaining notable convictions.

Ashworth is active in her community. She volunteers her time as a greeter at her church, a mentor attorney for the El Dorado County Teen Court program, and serves as an attorney coach for the Ponderosa High School Mock Trial Team. For many years, she volunteered at Green Valley School and with the Girl Scouts of America. She is also a member of the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis International, Placerville Chapter.

She and her husband, Bob, a captain with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, have two children.
