Quarter-acre fire in Kelsey

By From page A3 | July 30, 2014

A brush fire near Sierra Pines Mobile Manor in Kelsey burned approximately one quarter of an acre last Thursday, July 24.

Residents fairly far away said they heard two large explosions. One person with second-degree burns was transported by Medic 61; it is not known whether the victim went to a hospital or burn center. Mobile home residents were worried, but no structures were lost as a result of the incident.

Firefighters caught the conflagration early, and according to Garden Valley Fire, it wasn’t moving very fast. Speculation is that the brush caught fire from an RV that was on fire in the middle of the flames. The victim was in the RV. Cal Fire is investigating the actual cause.

Others who responded to the fire were Georgetown Fire, Garden Valley Fire and El Dorado County Fire.

“The plan worked; we were stepping all over each other,” said Garden Valley Fire Chief Bill Dekker.
