Kitchen fire closes Mexican eatery in Georgetown

By From page A2 | January 11, 2012

An early morning fire last Thursday at Parra’s Mexican Restaurant in Georgetown has closed the local eatery until further notice. A passerby called 911 after seeing flames through a window of the building on the corner of Highway 193 and Church Street.

According to Georgetown Fire Capt. Theresa Snoke, the fire was not severe and there were no injuries. The fire appears to have started in the kitchen.

Cleaning crews, sent by the businesses’ insurance company, have been working to clean up smoke damage done to the drapes and floors.

And according to Snoke, “There is a lot of clean-up.”

Phone attempts to contact the owner, Clara Parra, were unsuccessful.
