Contracts for legal services with three different firms were reviewed by the Budget and Administration Committee of the Cameron Park Community Services District.

Up for discussion Wednesday night was a contract with the Biegler Law Firm of Sacramento that functions as the district’s general counsel. Biegler would be paid a flat fee of $300 to attend all regular and special board meetings and $200 an hour for other work performed for the district.

A second agreement was with McMurchie Law of Folsom. They handle CC&Rs (covenants, conditions and restrictions) for the district. Their hourly charge is from $200 to $255.

A third agreement was with the legal firm of Angius and Terry LLP. The firm, which has different offices in California and Nevada, specializes in Community Association law. It handles general special district and personnel issues for the district. Its rates range from $180 to $325 an hour.

General Manager Mary Cahill said the contracts will be forwarded to the board for approval at its next regular meeting along with a recommendation that the district use a RFP (request for proposal) process in six months and put out to bid legal services for the district.

Cahill said this year’s budget includes $55,000 for legal services. In the last fiscal year, the district spent approximately $45,000.
