An El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department employee got an offer he couldn’t refuse after posting a vehicle for sale on Craigslist.
Interested buyers reportedly offered to trade a vehicle and one-quarter pound of marijuana for the seller’s vehicle, according to a Sheriff’s Department press release. Narcotic investigators took the opportunity handed to them and arranged to meet the buyer in a Park Drive parking lot in El Dorado Hills.
“On Nov. 28 narcotics investigators contacted Somyouth Chanthongdao at his vehicle and after agreeing to the exchange, were led to a different nearby vehicle and were shown approximately a quarter pound of marijuana in the trunk,” the release states. “Investigators arrested Chanthongdao and the male driver of the second vehicle, Brandi Savatdy, for sales and transportation of marijuana and conspiracy charges. Both are validated gang members from the Sacramento area.”
Chanthongdao, 27, is being held in lieu of $1,050,000 bail. Savatdy, 21, is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
