WEST POINT, N.Y. – Cadet Sean Michael Wester, son of Douglas Wester of Spokane, Allison Sharp of Folsom, and grandson of Marie Perry of Placerville graduated from the U.S. Military Academy on May 26.
Wester graduated from Folsom High School in 2006 and enlisted in the United States Army in August of the same year. He took his basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., and additionally attended advanced infantry training and airborne school. Wester was admitted to the United States Military Academy Preparatory School at Fort Monmouth, N.J., in 2007 and received his appointment to West Point in 2008.
While at West Point, Wester concentrated his studies in languages, specifically Russian and German, and received the Capt. Christopher B. Johnson Award, which is presented the graduating cadet who has contributed the most to Scouting at West Point. He earned is Eagle Scout Rank while a member of Troop and Venture Crew 94 in Folsom.
Wester has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the aviation branch and will report to Fort Rucker, Ala., for his first assignment in late August.
